finding a article for garlic substitutions brought me to find recipes with chives. this dish fit perfectly for tonight’s dinner with tofu as the protein paired with leftover roasted vegetables.
- 1 container firm organic tofu
- 3 tsp EVOO
- 1 Tsp agave
- 2 tsp light miso paste (yellow or white)
- 2 Tsp fresh lemon juice
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- 2-3 Tsp chives (½ bunch fresh chives, finely chopped)
- ¼ cup Mexican cheese mix
- salt & pepper, to taste
in a mixing bowl, stir oil, agave, lemon juice and turmeric. add miso paste and half of chives. mix sauce.
cut tofu into 1/2″ – ¾ ” thick rectangular strips. dip tofu strips into the sauce. place tofu strips into the grill and heat until desired outside crispiness. sprinkle with cheese and remaining chives. remove when cheese has melted.
serve and top with salt & pepper to taste.
