processed gluten free eggless snack: Chickpea Chips

the first food that k showed me lack of interest in was chickpeas – feeding them to me instead of eating it. so when i found these chips in the supermarket, it seemed like a fun way for k to retry chickpeas. i know k can eat chickpeas without an allergic reaction. there are also a few new spices to introduce k to so i picked it up.

book: “If You Give a Dog a Donut” by Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond

If You Give a Dog a Donuti read Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond’s collaboration If You Give a Mouse a Cookie a long time ago and loved it so much that i bought it for my future classroom library, when i was planning to teach elementary school. since then i went into a different career so i didn’t know it expanded into a If You Give … series. when i started taking k to the bookstore/library regularly.

i saw other books by Numeroff/Bond and was excited by the idea of the series but i didn’t fall in love with any other book – i.e If You Give a Cat a Cupcake and If You Take a Mouse to the Movies. for the later, it wasn’t because it is not really a book about food – instead it didn’t have the same kind of flow as the first book did. processed breakfast food: Van’s gluten free flax waffle

bkfst Van's Foods waffles k’s daycare cooking class was going to have waffles so i had to either find or make waffles that k could eat in class. easiest would be to find one that was gluten free vegan and with concerns of k’s allergies, they also had to be made of ingredients that k has already been introduced to.

luckily there was one in our local store that we could try: Van’s gluten free flax waffles. it has no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. it is sweetened with fruit juices instead of high fructose corn syrup. in addition, it is gluten free, egg free and non GMO Project verified.
